Having worked extensively in conservation, both at home and abroad, she later completed a degree at the Open University in 2015 in Environmental Studies and Creative Writing, whilst working in horticulture. She has been lucky enough to build a shed in her back garden, and is now enjoying her first love ̶ of making art. Two of her artworks were exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London in 2019 and she has had an exhibition at the Montserrat Gallery in New York. Her books include: Worlds’ Most Endangered (New Holland),Rare British Breeds and The Secret Life of an Arable Field (Pen and Sword) and with Amberley Publishing, Bonnie Geordie, which is what the pit men used to call her pit-boy turned tycoon ancestor, Sir George Elliot.
